mini tablet sleeve

$ 8.00

This is a PDF SEWING PATTERN that is available for immediate download, NOT a finished product! The PDF is 9 pages long, and includes step-by-step directions with pictures, preparation & construction tips, plus the pattern itself.

the tablet sleeve
This is a padded sleeve for a 7" tablet or e-reader in two views. View A has a zipper closure, and view B has a button and elastic closure.

finished dimensions
The mini tablet sleeve measures 6.25” x 9.75,” with inner dimensions of 5.75” x 8.5.” Fits the iPad mini, Kindle Fire HD, Nook 7” HD, and any similar sized device.

skill level
The mini tablet sleeve is easy for beginners, but fun for more experienced sewers, too. The pattern includes simple instructions for inserting a zipper. Since the tablet sleeve is an irregular width, purchase a zipper longer than what you'll need, and shorten it. Visit my blog for a free tutorial on shortening zippers

suggested fabrics
Medium weight woven fabric like canvas or denim is best for the outside of the tablet sleeve. Lightweight woven fabric is best for the lining. Use felt, fusible fleece or cotton batting for the interlining. Avoid fabrics that are sheer, stretchy, drapey, or with pile.

materials needed

  • 1/4 yard fabric
  • 1/4 yard medium weight fusible interfacing (like Pellon décor bond or craft fuse)
  • 1/8 yard interlining (felt, fusible fleece, or cotton batting)
  • 7” zipper for view A
  • 1/2” button for view B
  • 5” length of narrow elastic for view B (I like to use a cut up hair elastic)
  • zipper foot for your sewing machine + basic sewing supplies
