The wristlet is destined to be the most useful handbag in your wardrobe! With its built-in wallet and petite size, you can carry everything you need while still looking chic. Make it in denim or canvas for day, or something silky and shiny for evening!

finished dimensions
The wristlet stands 5" tall and 8" wide, with a 2.75" wide gusseted bottom. It closes with a 7" zipper, and includes a flat wallet built into the lining, with six pockets for credit cards and one for cash. The wrist strap is 6" long and the piping and accent fabric on the front are optional.

skill level
The wristlet is a great project for beginners, but fun for more experienced sewers as well. The pattern includes clear instructions on how to insert a zipper, and how to make custom piping.

suggested fabrics
Medium-weight denim, canvas, corduroy, duck cloth or upholstery fabric are perfect for the body ("self fabric"). Use lightweight wovens like quilting cotton for the lining, accent fabric, and piping, if you want to make your own. Commercially made piping of any weight works well, too. For an evening version, try medium weight silk or poly blend brocade or damask for the body, and a stiff but lightweight fabric like silk or poly blend dupioni for the lining.

Avoid fabrics that are sheer, stretchy, knit, drapey, slippery, heavyweight, or with pile like velvet or faux fur.
